Phree. Branding & Visual Identity.
For Phree, we created more than a new brand. We created tremendous excitement.
When Phree, the world’s first write-virtually-anywhere-you-can-think-of mobile input device debuted on Kickstarter, it reached its $100,000 goal in less than 24 hours and had surpassed $1 million when the campaign ended 45 days later.
It was such a success that Phree was written up in Wired, CNET, Yahoo!
Technology and a bunch of other places – and most of them pulled directly from our work to describe this amazing product – even Kickstarter itself featured it on their site… holy moley!
And not only did we create the beyond-everyone’s-wildest-dreams crowdfunding campaign for the fine folks at OTM technologies, we developed the entire brand for their incredible 17-year labor of love.
Make the world your paper.
To create the Phree brand,
we let the product be the star.
We started with a crazy tight timeline. No surprises there; we know what it means to be nimble. Then came the strategy and delivery of the key insight: with this device, you could free yourself from the screen and make the world your paper.
Next was the name, the tagline and manifesto and all the content, design and thinking for the Kickstarter page. Besides the execution of all these elements, we also delivered photographic guidelines and injected a lot of creative juice into the Kickstarter video (produced by our partners at Kookooruzo).
We knew when we started that the guys at OTM had created a game-changing device, so we avoided a lot of bells and whistles and let Phree be the star in all its brilliant simplicity. This resulted in a decidedly sophisticated yet understated look and feel for the page. Completely aligned with the effortless way Phree sits in your hand as you doodle, write and draw on just about anything, it was the only way to go as far as we were concerned.
