Copywriting for VW, one of the most successful and awarded campaigns in advertising history? No pressure.
Our founder and reverse namesake, Eitan, spent four amazing years working on the Volkswagen account at Arnold Worldwide in Boston. Over that time, he and his exceptionally talented colleagues delivered outdoor ads, brochures, newspaper campaigns, websites, posters, direct mail pieces, trading cards and even VW magnets.
And every meeting with the client was positive. It was through this experience that Eitan learned how to truly care for a brand – how to steward, nurture, protect and defend it. Everyone Eitan partnered with taught him something. It’s an indicator of how productive and special those years were.
Writing copy for this campaign was a labor of love. Quite literally.
And the work clearly showed the love and care that went into it. The Volkswagen “Drivers Wanted” campaign drove huge sales numbers for the car manufacturer and dominated every major advertising award show for a number of years. In retrospect, it stands as one of a handful of history-making advertising campaigns and is the quintessential example of brilliant creative work setting sales records, too.
