A Campaign for the Olympics. On YouTube.
Creating a YouTube campaign for the Olympics. Talk about a win.
Google Africa asked us if we would like to create a campaign for YouTube. We said yes. When they told us it was to promote the London 2012 Olympic Games, which were going to be broadcast live on fourteen YouTube channels all over Africa and South East Asia, we said YESSS!!!
And much like the Olympics themselves, this work was all about the athletes. They weren’t just national heroes; they were the heroes of our work, too, and were featured in all their incredibly fit, talented and exciting glory.

When you work on an Olympics campaign, there are a lot of hurdles to jump over.
Natie worked like synchronized swimmers on this one to deliver on-brand messaging via materials that complied with the International Olympic Committee’s strict brand guidelines – not an uncomplicated task, since the IOC’s style book runs over 200 pages. On top of that, we also had to make it feel as if YouTube owned the campaign, and client approvals went all the way up to Google HQ and the IOC. Google Africa really looked to our guidance and expertise on this one, and we were very proud to provide it. We truly felt like we were there in spirit – in London and in Africa.
Gold medals all around for the teams who worked on this!
