A tribute for a decent man.
Eitan once knew a man named Bill Weems. He knew him just for a few months while they were working together, but long enough to call him a friend.
Eitan and Bill discussed Israel a lot since it was around the time of so many suicide bombings there. Bill didn’t get how Israelis could live with the constant threat of terrorism in their lives, and he expressed how far America felt from it all.
Bill Weems was simply a decent man. He was also a passenger on one of the planes steered mercilessly into the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001. Eitan created this for him in partnership with Birdo in Brazil as part of the “9/11. It’s Been Ten Years.” initiative by Aniboom and Gideon Amichay.
For Bill. For his family.
For all of us.
This is for Bill’s family, for everyone who lost someone and for the rest of us, too. Individual lives, families and friendships were torn apart that awful day. The hundreds of murdered innocents aren’t just a meaningless number.
Eitan didn't know Bill a long time. But he is glad to have known him. He will never forget him – and he will always consider him a friend.
Every year on 9/11 Eitan shares this video as a reminder of the many lives lost that terrible day. Please visit the Facebook page to see all the illustrations and to share the memory.
