This year uniqlo released a new collection in their brand philosophy called lifewear – clothes for a better life for everyone, everyday. They’re dedicated to making clothes that go beyond fashion.
That focus on life.
And this month they released an app called uniqlo recipe that extends that philosophy past fashion and into food. Yes, food. An app that combines recipes with fashion. 6 emerging chefs from the us created original recipes, all inspired by uniqlo’s lifewear philosophy. Simple flavor combinations, few ingredients, quick to prepare, nothing overly complex – just like uniqlo.
This forray really shows uniqlo’s commitment to their philosophy and creative spirit. They’ve invented textiles and materials to make our lives better, they’ve designed clothing that makes getting dressed and looking fabulous easy, and now they’re sharing us with delicious and easy recipes so we can eat better too.
As you’d expect from uniqlo, the app is simple and beautifully designed. Each recipe page background changes color to reflect the food – and the accompanying picture of the chef has them wearing an outfit with matching/complementary colors, too. It’s truly a marriage of fashion and food.
In the recipe description, it has step by step explanations per prep stage with photographs making it easy for even the most novice chef to succeed. At the bottom of the section, you see the outfit the chef is wearing item by item and when clicked, it takes you directly to the uniqlo online store.
You can literally go from cooking a delicious dish to buying an outfit inspired by that dish. Or is it the other way around? You tell us.
